Dr. Timothy Adekunle appointed Interim Chair of School of Architecture


Dean Arnab Chakraborty is pleased to announce that Dr. Timothy Adekunle has accepted the appointment as Interim Chair of the School of Architecture, pending approval by the President and the Board of Trustees. This appointment comes after a thorough consideration of inputs shared by faculty members in the School of Architecture. Dr. Adekunle’s term as interim chair will begin on August 12, 2023, and continue through June 30, 2025.

Dr. Adekunle is an associate professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the School of Architecture. He has an impressive record as an educator, researcher, mentor, and leader. As Director of Graduate Studies, a role in which he will continue through Fall 2023, Dr. Adekunle leads the Master of Architecture and Master of Science in Architectural Studies programs. He has also played important roles as co-chair of the NAAB accreditation preparation committee in the School and in developing a proposal for a new PhD program. Dr. Adekunle’s research and teaching focuses on sustainable architecture, building performance, and environmental resilience, all of which are at the forefront of architectural education. His work has strong relevance to communities in Utah and across the world. Dr. Adekunle holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of Kent and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building. Prior to coming to the U in 2022, Dr. Adekunle was an associate professor at the University of Hartford. Please join us in welcoming him to this new leadership role!
