Admissions
Discover your passion, design your story, and innovate the future at the University of Utah College of Architecture + Planning.
The Design Foundations Program (DF) for first-year students provides a platform for success in any of our college's bachelor’s degrees, and a pathway to earn general education credits so that students progress toward their degree, regardless of their eventual choice of major.
Students must take prerequisite classes and apply to the program for Architecture Studies and Multi-Disciplinary Design, typically in their first year. For Urban Ecology, students are declared in the major once they take DF courses, and there is no application process.
Click on the button below to apply for one of our undergraduate programs. If you lean toward Architecture, please select Pre Architectural Studies BS on the list under "Academics" on the Common App. If you prefer Urban Ecology, select Pre Urban Ecology BS or BA. Please choose Pre Design BS on the app if you want to explore Design.
