SE Group is hiring an Associate-level Mountain Planner

Position Title: Associate-level Mountain Planner

Job Description: SE Group is seeking an Associate-level Mountain Planner to join our Salt Lake City office. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a team of industry leaders that sets the standard for the design and planning of ski areas and mountain resorts around the world. One week you may be drafting chair lift designs for a resort in Alaska, the next the trail layout for an expansion in Utah, and another the specs for a base area in Vermont. Our job sites are the places most people save for vacation!

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Preparing grading plans, site plans, and construction documents
  2. Analysis of physical attributes and capacities of mountain resorts
  3. Participating in field reconnaissance trips in support of analysis and design
  4. Preparation of graphic deliverables that communicate our work

Other desired skills and experience include:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects involving cross-functional teams
  • Experience interfacing directly with clients: communicating desired outcomes, advocating for their needs, and managing expectations
  • Experience contributing to business development tasks (preparing SOWs, budgets, etc.)
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (preferably Civil3D)
  • Experience using 3D modeling platforms, Global Mapper, Infraworks, and GPS software
  • Ability to effectively communicate plans through Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
  • Experience contributing to planning documents such as master development plans, feasibility studies, strategic business plans, and environmental assessments

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. This position is designed for entry-level applicants (0-3 years experience) who are new or continuing to develop in the field of planning and engineering.
  2. Candidates must demonstrate AutoCAD proficiency, an interest in design, and the ability to effectively communicate design ideas graphically.  Experience with design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud suite, 3d modeling platforms, Global Mapper, Infraworks, and GPS software is desirable.
  3. Responsibilities for this position include developing concept plans, site plans, grading plans, profiles and section drawings, manipulating surfaces (typically LiDAR point cloud based), 3D modelling, and preparation of various graphics for environmental analysis and master plan documents. Creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking are a must!  We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, communicative, and eager to make a difference.

Location:

We are currently operating in a combined remote and in-office work environment and being able to meet and socialize in the same space is important to our team dynamic. Candidates that live (or can relocate) within reasonable driving distance of our Salt Lake City, UT office will be preferred. Being a passionate skier or snowboarder isn’t required, but certainly helps in understanding the complexities of designing mountain resorts.
