The Manager of the RCRA and Voluntary Corrective Action Section is responsible for the implementation and management of RCRA Corrective Action Sites and Voluntary Environmental Cleanups.
Incumbent is responsible for all the administrative, technical, and regulatory activities associated with the position, to include (but not limited to):
•Providing effective guidance, direction, supervision, and management of the Section staff by prioritizing, assigning, and tracking progress of work, to ensure accuracy, completeness, responsiveness, timeliness, and completion of the tasks and objectives assigned to the section
•Coordinating with EPA Region VIII, the public, the regulated community, other DEQ divisions, WMRC sections, and others as necessary
•Developing annual goals and objectives
•Overseeing the development and implementation of all aspects of inspecting and monitoring RCRA voluntary cleanup and corrective action site plans and management.
•Developing rules, policies, and procedures to ensure protection of land and waters of the state
•Completing EPA Performance Partnership Agreement and End-of-Year reports
•Completing monthly reports for the section
•Managing fee development and collection, training and travel budgets, IT and equipment needs, contracts, grants, and other administrative issues that arise
•Incumbent will manage division experts in the remediation of environmental contaminates and oversight of cleanup sites.
•Incumbent will complete other duties as assigned.

Preference may also be given to applicants with a degree in Geology, Chemistry, Natural Resources, Hydrology, Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Management or closely related fields.
Additional preference may be given to applicants with five or more years of paid professional experience in environmental work and management including but not limited to: staff management; development of guidance and rule making; oversight or management of environmental cleanup and corrective action programs; development of quality assurance plans a; biological or physical data assessment and statistical analysis; knowledge and understanding of state rules and federal regulations for remediating hazardous waste environmental contamination.
