Graduation Details
The CA+P Convocation, in the College’s tradition, is a time for graduates and their families to celebrate and recognize the accomplishments of all involved. The main features of the convocation are student speakers and recognition of student achievements. The primary event, of course, is the individual recognition of each graduate.

The university is providing a single location for all livestreaming of convocation ceremonies. The page is here: https://commencement.utah.edu/watchlive.php Ceremonies will be listed based on their location. There is a Student Union window and a Kingsbury Hall Window at this website.
All graduates should have a cap and gown (and hood for graduate students) to participate in the convocation. These may be ordered at the University Bookstore.
Graduate level graduates should arrive at the A. Ray Olpin Student Union Ballroom no later than 9:15 am while undergrad graduates should gather on the west side of Kingsbury Hall no later than 1:15 pm. Graduates will be given cards on which to write their names (no nicknames), as they will be read at commencement. You may also be asked to complete digital “cards.” Each graduate should retain the card until crossing the stage.
Guest Seating, RSVP & Ticket Information
Specifically for the undergraduate ceremony, there is limited seating; tickets are required. Each undergraduate who completes the RSVP and Ticket Request Form by April 1, 2025 is guaranteed four (4) guest tickets. We will not hold tickets for those who do not complete the form. There is a priority deadline for requesting additional tickets. You may use the form to request 2 additional tickets. Any additional tickets will be distributed randomly, however if you complete the form by February 1, you will have priority in the random drawing. You will receive information about the distribution of tickets before the day of the event. Please note lost tickets cannot be replaced.
Overflow Seating will be provided next door at the Thompson Chamber Music Hall inside David P. Gardner Hall. If you do not have a ticket, please come to the box office. There will be two volunteers in front of the box office with any available tickets 45 minutes before the ceremony begins. If there are no tickets available Kingsbury Hall Volunteers will guide, you to the overflow seating area.
Please advise families and guests to arrive early as the convocation procession for both ceremonies will begin promptly at their respective start times. Special seating arrangements for guests in wheelchairs or those having difficulty walking are available in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Students or guests with disabilities may also give reasonable prior notice and request accommodations through the Center for Disability Services at (801) 581-5020 (voice/TDD).
Guests who require seating accommodations may queue at the East Plaza Door 45 minutes before event start to enter with up to two (2) guests to allow a little extra time. (All other guests should wait for general entry to open.) Kingsbury Hall has a number of seating options for guests and Utah Presents staff will be present to assist them to their seats.
