Additional College of Architecture + Planning Convocation Information:
Line-up of Graduates
All graduates should have a cap and gown (and hood for graduate students) to participate in the convocation. These may be ordered at the University Bookstore. Graduates should gather in the Olpin Union Saltair Room (west of the Ballroom) no later than 8:40 a.m. Graduates will be given cards on which to write their names (no nicknames), as they will be read at commencement. Each graduate should retain his or her card until crossing the stage. The procession will form in the Saltair Room by major and degree and proceed into the Ballroom at 9:00 a.m.
There is unlimited seating; no tickets are required. The convocation procession will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. Families and guest should be seated prior to that time. Special seating arrangements for guests in wheelchairs or those having difficulty walking are available in the Ballroom in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Students or guests with disabilities may also give reasonable prior notice and request accommodations through the Center for Disability Services at (801) 581-5020 (voice/TDD).
Special Seating and Accommodations
Students or guests with disabilities (including individuals in wheelchairs and those who have limited mobility) attending the College of Architecture + Planning reception directly after the College convocation can request accommodations by contacting Jennifer Bailey at the college at (801) 581-8254 or firstname.lastname@example.org. The College requests that guests give reasonable prior notice and, since space is limited, plan to arrive early.
Campus parking lots may be used at no charge during convocation and commencement ceremonies. Families are encouraged to drop off those who cannot walk long distances at the east entrance of the Union Building before parking. The closest parking to the Union Building is the parking lot directly east of the building. Guests may also park in other lots and catch a University shuttle to the Union Building. Since parking can be difficult during this busy time on campus, we also encourage families to ride UTA TRAX and to take buses to graduation. Access UTA route maps and schedules here.
Cap and Gown Orders
Student graduates can pay for and pick up graduation regalia at the University Bookstore’s Grad Fair (dates TBA). See the University Campus Bookstore website for additional information.
The College does not contract with a photographer; however, all are invited to come forward to take photographs as the graduates cross the stage.
Diplomas are mailed to graduates within three months of graduation.
Class Group Photo & Reception
Following the convocation all graduate students are to gather at the Southeast door of the College of Architecture + Planning (CA+P) building for the official group portrait. A reception is then held in the Bailey Exhibit Hall in the CA+P Building for all graduates and their guests. Light refreshments will be served.
